Kayaking at laguna de apoyo
This is a large lake in an old volcanic crater. The two functioning boats warn not to go far as they are "liking" (leaking).

Our family with Sara
Sunday, January 8, 2012Up here in Finca dos Lados
Here we are in Costa Rica! We have had the pleasure to be picked up at the airport by Nancy and Dan, who we have met through warmshowers.org. Dan and Nancy live in a beautiful spot on the outskirts of San Jose.
We spent a couple of nights there and then, following their suggestion, went on to visit a Sara, a friend of theirs, who lives way up in the mountains, above a little town called Sarchi. Sara owns a large piece of land which she has been actively reforestating for the past 10 years. It has gone from bare pasture lands to second growth cloud forest. The name, Finca dos Lados means land of two sides, because her land straddles the continental divide between the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans.
We are leaving tomorrow morning for the coast of Nicaragua where we will meet with our friend Colette. From there we will travel to the shore of lake Nicaragua and hopefully visit Granada.
A bientôt!
