We met the self proclaimed crazy kayak lady who gave us advice on paddling the Clarkfork River. She failed to mention the dam which quickly foiled our plans. The paddling trip turned into a hitch-hiking trip upon which I attained a ride in a van with writing on the back proclaiming Jesus as Lord. I was happy for the ride and had interesting conversation. Yet again, our experience has been of peoples good nature (I think the crazy kayak lady's oversight of the dam was an accident). If we were to compare the days adventure to The Hobbit (which we continue to read each night), the dam would be the dragon and the gold would be the humor from which to see our severely shortened canoe outing.
